The Chevrolet Enjoy, the newest contender in the compact MPV market, is just a few days away from its launch.
One of our avid readers, Mr. Ankur Singh has sent us this spyshot of the demo car from Lucknow. The Enjoy is expected to be launched on May 9.
The seven seat MPV will be offered with both petrol and diesel engines. A 1.4 litre petrol motor develops 103 bhp while the popular 1.3 litre diesel engine (Fiat MultiJet) puts out 76 bhp. The Ertiga also uses the same engine but with a VGT (Variable Geometry Turbocharger) to generate 88.8 bhp.
Both the petrol and diesel motors will be paired to a 5-speed manual transmission. In spite of sharing its diesel engine with the Ertiga, the enjoy is a rear wheel driven vehicle with the engine mounted longitudinally.
The Enjoy is expected to start a price war against the Maruti Ertiga and undercut MPVs like the Toyota Innova and the Mahindra Xylo while offering more third row space than any of its rivals. Chevrolet's three years free maintenance plan (Chevrolet Promise) will add more appeal to the overall package.
The Enjoy will be the third launch in quick succession for GM India. While the Sail U-VA failed to live up to the expectations, its sedan version is doing reasonably good. GM India would be hoping that the Enjoy would bring in the much needed volumes.
