IAB took the opportunity to interact with Pranav Desai, Director and CEO, Cleveland Cyclewerks India to understand the company’s product strategy for the local market. Desai confirmed to IAB that the new Cleveland Ace Deluxe and Misfit would be followed by two other variants of the Ace family – Ace Cafe and Ace Scrambler. Desai did not reveal a launch date.

Desai said:

In the Ace family, we have the Cafe and Scrambler. Those two will be lined up immediately after the Ace Deluxe and Misfit...we want to bring the motorcycles as soon as possible but it all depends on the testing and certification process at ARAI.

Both, the Ace Cafe and Ace Scrambler are built around the same chassis as the Ace Deluxe and feature different styling. The Ace Cafe, as the name suggests, is a cafe racer and thus features clip-on handlebar, and a rider only saddle with a cowl at the rear. The motorcycle, however, features pillion footrests and thus, Cleveland Cyclewerks is expected to offer a dual seat as an accessory.

The Scrambler, on the other hand, features more upright ergonomics with a tall-set handlebar. Unlike the Ace Deluxe and the Ace Cafe, the Scrambler uses a pair of conventional telescopic front suspension. The fuel tank features rubber pads on the sides that should enhance the grip and offer better control of the motorcycle while going off the tarmac. The saddle features a ribbed design that further enhances its retro look. The Ace Scrambler, being a dual-purpose motorcycle, also gets a knobby design on the tyres.

The upcoming Ace Cafe and Ace Scrambler will use the same engine that propels the Ace Deluxe. The 229 cc single-cylinder, OHV, Air-cooled engine that is tuned to deliver 15.4 hp of power @ 7,000 rpm and 16 Nm of peak torque @ 6,000 rpm. The engine is mated to a five-speed transmission. The engine is claimed to return a fuel economy of about 35 kmpl.
