These images reveal a pickup based on the Dacia Duster, which was jointly made by Romturingia, a private vehicle body builder, and Renault's Romanian technology center.
It is believed that this one-off car was made to study the feasibility of a pickup truck which is cheap to make and buy, with decent loading capacity and good off-road skills.
If the results of the study are positive, Dacia may consider making the Duster pickup and offer it as an alternative to the old Logan pickup.
While the specific costs aren't mentioned, its reported that transforming a Duster to this pickup variant was achieved with a small budget. The Duster pickup sports a single cab with space for two occupants including the driver, and a loading bay measuring 1.7 meters in length. The outfitter claims a payload capacity of 400 kg.
The base vehicle was a Duster diesel with an all-wheel drive system. According to the report, the mechanicals of the car remain unchanged, and power continues to be fed by the 1.5-liter K9K diesel engine outputting 110 PS.
Renault could explore the option of selling the Duster pickup in South America, apart from Europe, if the project is green-lighted for production.
