Spied - IAB reader snaps the DC Avanti on test, again
The DC Avanti was spotted on tests yet again, this time by Indian Autos Blog reader, Mr. Karan Walia, on the GT Road near the Delhi-Haryana border.
The Avanti, first revealed as a concept by the Indian design company at the 2012 Auto Expo, was shown in a production-ready avatar at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo this year. Compared to the concept, the production model saw minor changes to the lights, exterior, interior and frame.
Power for the Avanti comes from a 2.0-liter four-cylinder Ford EcoBoost engine. DC claims the engine is good for 250 bhp and 360 Nm of torque, which is enough to accelerate the Avanti from 0-100 km/h in a scant 6 seconds. The top-speed though is 180 km/h. The Avanti is a rear wheel drive car and is driven via a 6-speed manual gearbox. It weighs 1,580 kg and has an ample ground clearance of 170 mm.
The sportscar will be manufactured at DC's plant located in Pune, Maharashtra. Initially, this facility is expected to roll out 100 units of the Avanti every month. The first 25 cars have a price of INR 25 lakhs, and then on, the Avanti will cost INR 30 lakhs.
