Deliveries of DC Avanti will begin in October 2013
We met the world famous Indian car designer Dilip Chhabria at the DC Tornado showcase in Mumbai late last week.
We had many questions to ask him about India’s first Supercar - the DC Avanti - at the event.
DC claims that the Avanti is well on track of its development and the deliveries will start in October 2013.
Without divulging an exact number, DC claimed that ‘substantial orders’ have been received for the Avanti. The supercar is currently going through various phases of engineering and vendor development. It is expected to go into testing and homologation sometime in March 2013.
The Avanti is India’s first supercar powered by a Ford Ecoboost 2.0L 4-cylinder, turbocharged engine which produces 240bhp @ 5,500 RPM.
The engines can be availed with a 6 speed manual or with an optional powershift six-speed dual clutch gearbox. To make sure that the Avanti is able to control this massive power, it comes with a 330mm ventilated discs operated by racing calipers at both front and rear.
DC will produce only 300 Avantis in 2013-2014. The designer has established a manufacturing plant with 2,000 units capacity near Pune. DC hopes to utilize a minimum of 1,000 units in the first two year of manufacturing.
