Ferrari Roma front-engined V8 coupe unveiled

Ferrari has recently pulled the covers off a brand-new model called the Roma. The car has been named after the city Rome, just like other models from Ferrari such as Maranello, Portofino and Modena. The company says that the design inspiration for the Roma has been taken from the Roman lifestyle from the 1950-60s.

On the outside, the Ferrari Roma looks undoubtedly stunning and highly distinctive from other Ferrari cars on sale today. It sports a very unique exterior design that seems to be somewhat inspired from the Ferrari Daytona. It makes use of LED lighting technology and features adaptive headlamps. Apart from that, it also features flush-type door handles while at the rear it uses sleek LED tail lamps, blacked-out rear diffuser and a large sized aggressively-raked windscreen.

Inside, the Ferrari Roma comes with a cabin layout that looks fresh and very distinctive and gone is the Spartan race-car like interior which allowed for all the controls to be managed via the steering wheel. It is offered with a very dramatically sculpted cockpit with a fully digital instrument display and centrally mounted touchscreen display.

Under the hood, the Ferrari Roma sources its power from the time tested 3.9-litre twin-turbo V8 engine which develops 620 PS of maximum power and 760 Nm of peak torque. The engine comes paired to a 8-speed dual-clutch transmission which has been carried over from the SF90 Stradale. The Ferrari Roma is capable of crossing the 0-100 km/hr line in just 3.4 seconds, and the 0-200 km/hr is achieved in no more then 9.3 seconds. It is capable of hitting a top-speed on 320 km/hr.

Ferrari says that the Roma features “refined proportions and timeless design”, while offering “unparalleled performance and handling." The Roma features a 1,472 kg of dry weight which in comparison is almost 80 kg less than the Portofino's dry weight. As for the dimensions, the Roma measures 4,656mm in length and 1,974mm in width, which makes it tad shorter and narrower than the Portofino. Its wheelbase spans 2,670mm.
