The Fiat Punto facelift is testing extensively in preparation for a pre-festive season launch. The test mules surface on public roads quite often and here are some recent spyshots taken by Auto Column.
The front and rear fascias of the test mule are hidden but few visual elements can be seen under the camouflage. The refreshed hatchback will get a reworked front end with new headlamps and grille similar to the ones found on the Avventura crossover concept that was showcased at the Auto Expo. The new bumper houses chrome foglamp enclosures.
The car remains the same in profile save for the new 16-inch wheels and ORVMs with integrated turn indicators. The new rear fascia is characterized by clear lens combination lamps and new bumper with chrome inserts that complement the ones upfront.
The interior, as reported earlier, is borrowed from the new Linea. The seat fabrics are also new.
While visually the Punto maybe transformed, Fiat is expected to leave the undercarriage untouched. The 68 PS 1.2-litre and 90 PS 1.4-litre petrol engines would continue to march forward along with the 1.3-litre MultiJet diesel that is available in two stages of output - 76 PS and 93 PS.
The Fiat Punto facelift would be followed by its crossover sibling, the Avventura and the Abarth 500, before the end of this year.
