Fiat to base its future cars on 500 or Panda
There are multiple theories circulating within the automotive fraternity about the future Fiats, especially the next generation Punto and the Bravo.
While every report is slightly different from the rest, one thing becomes clear. The upcoming Fiat cars will be heavily based on the 500 and the Panda.
According to Carmagazine.co.uk, the Fiat is working on a range of new vehicles which take cues either from the 500 or the Panda. The 500 based future cars include the 500X compact crossover and 500XL.
Interestingly, the website suggests that the 500XL would be the replacement for the Punto. The product is expected to be positioned between the supermini and a family hatchback segment and would combine the cute styling of 500 with practicality. If the claim is true, the Punto would be repositioned to cover a wider segment of audience.
Something very similar is said to be happening with the Bravo. The big hatchback will be reportedly replaced by a Panda based vehicle. The Panda's boxy lines are expected to be retained and the Bravo replacement could adopt a high roofline estate like body style. A much bigger derivative of the Panda is also speculated to replace the Fiat Freemont SUV.
It seems nobody has the exact intel or knowledge on what is being cooked at the Turin based automaker's R&D department, but the chances are that the Punto and the Bravo may not get spiritual successors!
