Hero MotoCorp is planning to bring back its "trans-road" motorcycle — the Impulse — with a higher capacity engine for the domestic and global markets early next year, the Telegraph newspaper had revealed. But will Hero introduce this motorcycle at the upcoming Auto Expo?

Hero MotoCorp's CEO Pawan Munjal was quoted in the news story disclosing that work is ongoing on bringing the motorcycle back and that it would come with a larger engine option, besides the same 150cc engine.

While Munjal refused to detail the displacement, it is likely that a 250 cc engine developed with technology partner Eric Buell, would be used on the premium variant. Hero officials have stated earlier that some models from its future motorcycle range would be displayed at the expo.

The Impulse was pulled off the shelf last year after it failed to make in-roads in the conservative two-wheeler market. Styled like a dirt bike, it was the first motorcycle to emerge from Hero, after it launched its new brand identity in the London O2 arena on August 9, 2011.

The Impulse launched with a 150 cc four stroke engine tuned to produce 13.2 PS @ 7,500 RPM and 13.4 NM @ 5,000 RPM. Fuel was fed by a carburettor, while the bike tipped the scales at 134 kg.

The company is also studying if there are takers for the relaunched Impulse in markets like Latin America.
