Make sure you read Part 1 and Part 2 of this epic journey.

The first thing that comes to mind when one hears the word “Scooter” is “not fast, definitely not for the bad boys”. Well, if you did think that, then you wouldn’t be the only one. What perhaps you didn’t know is that TVS has manufactured a modern day version of the old school scooter, which is perhaps the first scooter to be able to break all stereotypes. Why you may ask? Well, did you ever think that a scooter could reach the top of the world – literally. The TVS Scooty Zest 110 has become the first scooter with a woman rider - Anam Hashim, to reach the highest motorable road in the world – Khardung La. Here’s what made this feat possible.

There are many things to boast about for this is the latest scooter from the TVS family. Its features include best in class mileage at 62 kmph, best in class storage at 19 litres, easiest road handling and best pick up. These are only a few of the features that make this scooter top notch.

Driving from Jammu to Khardung La is no easy task. Any avid rider with a motor bike will tell you that. The roads are extremely dangerous. You are lucky if you find a stretch of tarred roads, because more often than not, the roads are rocky, the land is barren and the journey is exhausting. One of the first things Anam noted on her journey with the TVS Scooty Zest 110 was how easy it was to manage. It is lightweight, which makes riding past heavy load vehicles a piece of cake. Adding to this experience was the telescopic front and back suspension. Majority of this journey was on rocky terrain, but this scooter seemed unfazed.

With an 110cc engine that powered through the Himalayas, the adventurous scooter yet again proved how it has evolved. With the tubeless tires, even the most dreaded roads seemed easier. With ascents and descents that are common in this mountainous region, the brakes on this scooter were perhaps the safest. At no point did it refuse to start even after many nights of subzero temperatures.

On these long and arduous journeys, comfort is considered almost a luxury. With the wider, double stitched and more comfortable seats, the voyage to the top wasn’t as hard on the body as one imagines sitting for long hours on a scooter to be. To add to this comfort was the textured floor board that made sure Anam was always sure footed on the road. The journey to Khardung La from Jammu took 18 days. What’s more it was completed without any hiccups. At no point did the TVS Scooty Zest 110 need to be taken to a mechanic.

So the next time you see a TVS Scooty Zest 110 on the road, just remember that the adventurous scooter has been to the Himalaya’s and back without a glitch, something many other motorbikes wish they could say.
