Honda 2Wheeler India has sent out invitations for a product unveiling on 14 November. The invitation does not reveal any details about the model that is scheduled to be unveiled on the aforementioned date. However, based on the leaked document that was found by IAB in October, we expect to see the unveiling of the BS-VI compliant Honda CB Shine SP.

As per the leaked document that we reported on 19 October, the BS-VI Honda CB Shine SP 125 will pump out a maximum power output of 8 kW or 10.88 PS. In comparison, the current (BS-IV) model produces 7.58 kW or 10.31 PS of peak power. The updated motor will feature a fuel injection system instead of the carburettor tech that is seen on the current model. The commuter motorcycle will also feature On-Board Diagnostics I (OBD-I).

The dimensions will also undergo some changes, and the BS-VI Honda CB Shine SP 125 will be 13 mm longer (2,020 mm vs 2,007 mm), 23 mm wider (785 mm vs 762 mm) and 18 mm taller (1,103 mm vs 1,085 mm). The wheelbase on the BS-IV model, too, will be 19 mm longer (1,285 mm vs 1,266 mm) than the BS-IV model.

The BS-VI Honda CB Shine SP 125 will be available in three variants:

  • Base: Front and Rear Drum
  • Mid: Front and Rear Drum (DLX)
  • Top: Front Disc and Rear Drum (DLX)

The kerb weight of the motorcycle is not mentioned. However, with the added equipment, the kerb weight on the BS-IV model will be higher than the current model. The additional hardware will also result in a higher ex-showroom price tag. The base variant of the BS-IV compliant Honda CB Shine SP 125 retails at INR 65,579*. The BS-VI model could be 10-15% pricier.

As in case of the BS-VI Activa 125, Honda may just unveil the motorcycle on 14 November and keep the date for the pre-bookings opening at a later date. We expect the Indian launch of the BS-VI Honda CB Shine SP 125 to take place in early 2020, much before the deadline to comply with the latest emission norms.
