Report - Honda delays production of CBR300R (CBR250R replacement) by 9 months
Honda has announced that it is delaying the production of the CBR300R which was premiered in EICMA 2013 last November. The reasons for the delay haven't been revealed, but the company says that as of now there is a 9-month hold-up. The CBR300R will be manufactured in Thailand.
Back in October last year, Honda had announced that it was developing the CBR300R to replace the current CBR250R across the world, including India. Web portal VisorDown reports that the bike was set to go on sale in the UK in March this year, prior to the announcement of the delay.
The CBR300R takes it styling cues from the legendary Fireblade series. The CBR300R’s nose, especially the twin sharply styled headlights and other body panels, show heavy influences from the latest CBR1000RR.
The Honda CBR300R features a 286 cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder, fuel-injected engine that develops 30.4 hp at 8,500 rpm and generates maximum torque of 27 Nm at 7,250 rpm. This is essentially the same single-cylinder motor that powers the current CBR250R with a wider bore.
The 300R will use a 37 mm telescopic fork front suspension and a monoshock setup at the rear. Stopping power comes from a single 296 mm disc at the front and a 220 mm disc at the rear. The bike gets ABS as standard.
The CBR300R will take on the Kawasaki Ninja 300 in India.
