The Honda HR-V will rival the likes of Kia Seltos, MG Hector and Hyundai Creta.

The HR-V was previously ruled out for the Indian market because of being too expensive, but Honda has given it a second thought after recent change of import taxation rules under which a manufacturer is allowed to import 2,500 vehicles irrespective of their engine capacity and FOB value without homologation. Since the current-gen HR-V is set to be replaced with an all-new model next year, it will only be launched in the country to gauge the market response and to figure out if the next-gen HR-V will be feasible for the country.

The Honda HR-V is comparatively a smaller model than the Honda BR-V sold in India, but more premium. It features full-LED headlights, 17-inch alloy wheels and LED tail lights on the outside. While on the side, it is offered with comfort and convenience features like a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and sat-nav, 8-way power driver seat, full leather upholstery and a panoramic sunroof. On the safety front, it is available with six airbags, electric parking brake, Hill Start Assist (HSA), Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) and much more.

In terms of mechanicals, the Honda HR-V will most likely share its engines and transmissions with the Civic. Expect a 1.8-litre i-VTEC petrol engine (141 PS/174 Nm) mated to a CVT and a 1.6-litre i-DTEC diesel engine (120 PS/300 Nm) linked to a 6-speed MT.
