Auto Shanghai 2013 - Honda Jade is the production version of the Concept S
The Honda Jade, the stylish people carrier from the Japanese manufacturer, has been unveiled at the ongoing Auto Shanghai 2013.
The car is the production avatar of the Honda Concept S which was showcased at last year's Beijing Auto Show. First glance at the Jade gives us an impression that it is Honda's R-Class - Low slung, stylish and appears to be spacious as well.
According to Honda, the Concept S was a global concept model which was primarily designed for China. So we reckon that the Jade, which also follows the same philosophy, would have China as its home market.
As for as the design goes, the basic shape of the Honda Concept S has been retained. The front fascia of the Jade has a smaller grill, underlined by a bold chrome insert. The honeycomb meshed grill has a glossy black frame which also houses the Honda logo.
The headlamps and bumper have also been aligned more in line with Honda's current portfolio rather than the Concept S' futuristic units. The profile of the car however is a carried forward. Just like the front fascia, the rear too has been watered down. Nevertheless, the overall appearance of the car is smooth and impressive.
Without adding much details about the Jade, Honda announced that the car will be built by Guangzhou-Honda JV and will go on sale in China by September of this year.
