The final tests of the Hyundai AH2 is not just in India but also South Korea, where Hyundai has its main engineering teams. A new spy video on Bobaedream’s kakaoTV channel shows the future model on the roads of the company’s homeland.

The AH2 is Hyundai’s new light car designed primarily for India and the markets alike. Latest reports say that it will rejuvenate the iconic Santro nameplate, albeit with a suffix. Like the brand’s first model in the country, it has a tallboy design, but in a modern interpretation showing reminiscence of the Grand i10. The overall design theme is based on “Rhythmical Tension”.

The Hyundai AH2 rides on the first generation Hyundai i10’s HA platform receiving plenty of improvements. Under the hood, reportedly is an updated version of the Hyundai Santro Xing’s 1.1-litre Epsilon four-cylinder petrol engine. This engine will send power to the wheels via a standard 5-speed manual transmission or a Hyundai-first 5-speed automated manual transmission. The South Korean automaker calls the latter ‘Smart Auto’. No bi-fuel option is expected at launch, but further into the lifecycle, a petrol-CNG option could follow.

The new Hyundai Santro is likely to release with features like touchscreen infotainment system, steering-mounted audio controls, all four power windows, digital MID, dual-tone interior colour scheme, dual-front airbags, ABS & EBD, rear parking sensors, speed alert system and seatbelt reminder (front).
