New Hyundai cars for 2015, Ford EcoSport recall, Maybach, New Toyota Fortuner, VW discounts - IAB Retrospect

Even though it's the end of the year, the automotive industry is buzzing with new developments as ever. Here is part 2 of our compilation of what happened in the industry last week. Click on the images to read the respective articles.

1. Hyundai's six new cars for 2015

Hyundai is expected to bring six new cars to the Indian market next year. The list includes Elite i20 Cross, Verna facelift, Elantra facelift, ix25 compact SUV, Eon facelift, and the 2015 Sonata. Also, reports of Hyundai scouting site for a second plant in the country surfaced.

2. Ford EcoSport recall

Ford India issued a voluntary recall of 20,752 units of its compact SUV, the EcoSport. Owners of the affected cars will be contacted by the company and the repairs related to the recall will be made free of charge. The reason behind the recall is a possible long term corrosion in the fuel and vapour lines.

3. Mercedes Maybach S500 and S600 prices

Mercedes Benz revived Maybach in the form of an uber-luxurious sub-brand, and the first car to be part of the line up has received its offical pricing as well. The Mercedes Maybach S500 is priced at an equivalent of INR 1.07 crore while the S600 can be bought at INR 1.49 crore in Europe.

4. Toyota Fortuner rendering

A speculative rendering by IAB's in house designer Shoeb Kalania shows how the next generation Toyota Fortuner, which is being tested in Thailand and Brazil, will look like. It will reach markets abroad next year, while it's expected to reach India in 2016. The new version will benefit from a new chassis giving it better performance both on and off the road.

5. Volkswagen discounts

German car maker Volkswagen has completed seven years of existence in India, and as a result is offering year-end discounts on its products. Valid up to December 31, 2014, the scheme includes benefits up to Rs 30,000 on the Vento, up to Rs 18,000 on the Polo, and discount up to Rs 80,000 on the Jetta.
