Just days after its first sighting last month, the Hyundai i30 has appeared on the Indian roads again. Team-BHP forum member reihem has spotted the compact hatchback in Chennai this time.
Slotted above the Hyundai i20, the Hyundai i30 is now in its third generation. It is available in three bodystyles: hatchback, estate, and fastback. The hatchback version is the one undergoing testing in India. The test mule isn't camouflaged and this generally is an indication that the model is not being prepared for a market launch.
C-segment hatchbacks don't hold much potential for mainstream brands in India keeping the price-sensitive nature of our market in mind. In the UK, the i30 has a starting price of GBP 16,995 (INR 15,53,443). Still, Hyundai had showcased the second-gen i30 at Auto Expo 2016 to gauge customer interest. However, just weeks after the third-gen Hyundai i30's debut in 2016, a source confirmed to IAB that Hyundai does not plan to launch this model in our market. So, it is understandable why the latest model wasn't on display at Auto Expo 2018. It is here probably just for component testing.
Hyundai offers the Hyundai i30 with 1.0L T-GDi petrol, 1.4L T-GDi petrol, 1.6L MPi petrol, 1.6L T-GDi petrol, 2.0L GDi petrol and 1.6-litre CRDi diesel engines. A 6-speed manual, 6-speed automatic or 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission sends power to the front wheels.

LED projector headlamps, LED DRLs, LED front fog lamps, 17-inch alloy wheels, LED tail lamps, panoramic glass sunroof, ventilated front seats, 10-way power adjustment for the driver's seat, floating central display, wireless smartphone charging and electric parking brake are some of the key features of the Hyundai i30.
