Creta will take on the Renault Duster in Russia.
Hyundai Motor CIS, the Russian subsidiary of Hyundai Motor, will be launching four new products in the Russian market despite the harsh economic climate, reports ABW.
The four products that will be launched in 2016 are the Equus sedan which will get four-wheel drive, Elantra, a new model of the best-selling Solaris (renamed Verna) and the recently-introduced Creta.
Hyundai Motor CIS was founded in 2007 and is the official distributor and importer of its cars in Russia. Since then, it has sold more than one million units with 5,00,000 vehicles being accounted for by the Solaris alone. Its market share has also increased from 2.7 per cent initially to 9.9 per cent till August 2015, as per the report.
The Creta will be manufactured at the company’s facility in St.Petersburg. In India, the model is powered by a 1.6-liter Dual VTVT petrol engine that delivers 123 PS and 151 Nm of torque, which is likely to the engine used on the Russian-spec vehicle, paired to 6-speed manual and automatic gearboxes. Hyundai offers an earlier version of the 1.6L and the same gearbox options on the Solaris, alongside a 1.4-liter unit.
In India, the top-spec variant of the Creta gets several features such as ABS, EBD, ESC, VSM, side and curtain airbags, and Hill Start Assist.
