India got its first Tesla Model X earlier this month. The all-electric SUV has been privately imported into the country by Prashant Ruia, CEO of the multi-billion dollar Essar group. The car resides in Mumbai and was recently captured on video being driven around the city's streets.
This particular model is the Tesla Model X 90D. In the UK, in its most basic form, it retails for GBP 88,188 (INR 7,573,188.59). The owner would have had to pay hefty import duties on top of that easily driving the price past the INR 1 Crore mark.
In the 90D configuration, the Tesla Model X has a 90 kWh Battery pack, Dual Motor all wheel drive and a claimed range of 257 miles range (NEDC). It can reach 60 mp/h (96.56 km/h) from a standstill in just 4.8 seconds.
Tesla offers the Model X with multiple seating configurations including a 5-seat, 6-seat, and a 7-seat layout. The SUV features Flacon Wing doors to access the last two rows.

Rumours and reports surrounding the entry of Tesla into the Indian market have been doing the rounds for a quite some time now. However, no concrete plans have been announced yet. In April 2016, pre-orders for the Tesla Model 3 were opened to Indian customers with deliveries expected to commence 2018 onwards.
