Will be manufactured at the Solihull plant.

Joshua Regin snapped the forthcoming Jaguar F-Pace SUV test near the mountains of Austria. Just prior to the Detroit Auto Show last month, Jaguar announced the 'F-Pace' name for its first ever crossover/SUV, and said that a market launch will take place in 2016.

The F-Pace will be based on the iQ platform which also underpins the XE sedan.

Based on the new aluminium-intensive iQ platform, the F-Pace will be a 5-seat SUV that will come with an "advanced suspension system", AWD and the company's All-Surface Progress Control. Production of the F-Pace will take place at the brand's Solihull plant in the U.K. Jaguar is also looking to add 1,300 new jobs in the U.K.

The design of the F-Pace will likely be inspired by the C-X17 crossover concept, which measured 4.72 meters in length. Starting the range will be four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines from the new Ingenium family, while performance oriented models will get a 3.0-liter V6 petrol engine from the F-Type. Reports also suggest a high-performance variant with the famed 5.0-liter supercharged V8 engine.

Power for the F-Pace is expected to come from four-, six- and eight-cylinder engines.

Launch date: 2016 (In Europe)
