Classic Legends, a subsidiary of the Mahindra and Mahindra Group, expanded its product portfolio with the launch of the Perak bobber in the Indian market. The Perak is the first BS-VI compliant product from the brand, and Classic Legends have confirmed that the deliveries of the motorcycle will start from April 2020.

In other updates, motoring website BikeDekho claims that the 334 cc engine from the Perak will also power the Jawa Classic and the Forty-Two. The source report further adds that the higher displacement versions of the Jawa Classic and the Forty-Two will be sold alongside the existing models. The 334 cc Jawa Classic and the Forty-Two will reportedly arrive by mid-2020.
The 334 cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, DOHC (BS-VI) engine on the Perak pumps out 30 bhp of peak power and 31 Nm of maximum torque. In comparison, the 293cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected (BS-IV) motor on the Jawa Classic and the Forty-Two produces 27 bhp of peak power and a maximum torque of 28 Nm.
The styling cues on the higher displacement variants of the Jawa Classic and the Forty-Two, adds the source report, will not be altered to keep the costs low, and prices competitive. Thus, you would find the same retro looks and budget-friendly hardware on the 334 cc Jawa Classic and Forty-Two. Thus, shock absorption duties will be performed by conventional telescopic forks at the front and twin-sided springs at the back. The braking setup on the premium versions of the motorcycles will most likely carry disc brakes on both ends and a dual-channel ABS as standard.
Royal Enfield uses a similar strategy, although the displacement and the power output difference is considerably larger. The 499 cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine makes 27.57 PS and 41.3 Nm while the 346 cc single-cylinder, air-cooled mill pumps out 20.07 PS and 28 Nm.
The 334 cc Jawa Classic and Forty-Two could carry a price premium of INR 15,000 to INR 20,000 over the existing models. The dual-channel ABS variants of the Jawa Classic and Forty-Two retail at INR 1,72,942 and INR 1,63,942 respectively.

A report from last month claimed that Classic Legends will launch three new Jawa bikes. The new variants, as claimed by the report, are scheduled to arrive in the next 18 months, and they will cater to a larger customer base in the Indian market.
