The XE could debut the Ingenium engine for India.

A report on Autocar suggests that Jaguar Land Rover has decided to expand its engine-only facility in Wolverhampton, UK. The company is all set to double the production at the facility, the report reveals.

JLR Wolverhampton engine plant
Although the annual capacity of JLR's engine plant in Wolverhampton is unclear, reports suggest that 50,000 engines have been produced in almost a year.

Roughly a year into formal production, the Wolverhampton facility produces the Ingenium range of engines. The engines power, or will power, models like the XE, XF and F-Pace models from Jaguar, and the Land Rover Discovery Sport and Range Rover Evoque.

Likely to make its Indian debut at the Auto Expo 2016, the Jaguar XE - the company's challenge to the well-established BMW 3 Series, Mercedes-Benz C Class and Audi A4 - is powered by diesel engines belonging to the Ingenium family. Given the Indian customer's disposition towards diesel, the company is likely to announce the XE with the 2.0-liter diesel engines that, in other markets, produce 160 bhp/380 Nm or 178 bhp/430 Nm.

The company's first-ever crossover model, the Jaguar F-Pace, will launch in the UK in early-2016.

The upcoming Jaguar F-Pace crossover will also be powered by the Ingenium series of engines. The first-ever SUV from Jaguar is set to hit Indian roads in the latter half of 2016.
