Kia has confirmed that the Kia Stinger will have its Indian debut at Auto Expo 2018. The new sportback was first unveiled at NAIAS 2017.
The Kia Stinger is the production version of the Kia GT concept that was introduced at IAA 2011. With this model, Kia has entered a segment dominated by European automakers. Technically a hatchback, the car is underpinned by a new RWD platform that now forms the basis for the Genesis G70 as well. The RWD proportions are clearly evident with a long hood and short front overhang, a long wheelbase for a spacious cabin and a long rear overhang with strong shoulders.
The Kia Stinger is 4,830 mm long, 1,870 mm wide and 1,400 tall and has a 2,905 mm wheelbase. It is available in three engine models, each in RWD or AWD drivetrain layout. The range starts with the Theta 2.0-litre T-GDI turbocharged petrol engine good for 255 PS and 353 Nm of torque. Above that, there’s the R 2.2-litre VGT turbocharged diesel engine that develops 200 PS and 440 Nm of torque. The range-topping option is the Lambda 3.3 T-GDI twin-turbo V6 petrol engine that puts out 370 PS and 510 Nm of torque. An 8-speed automatic transmission is standard.
LED headlights with LED DRLs, 19-inch alloy wheels, Brembo brake callipers, LED rear lights, quad exhaust, heated, ventilated and 8-way power adjustable driver’s memory seat, heated and 8-way power adjustable front passenger’s seat, heated rear seats, customisable head-up display, 7-inch driver information display, 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 360-degree AVM and 15-speaker harman / kardon audio system with subwoofer, external amplifier and front centre speaker are some of the key features of the Kia Stinger.
