Do note that the KTM 125 Duke packs relatively lower performance numbers than the MT-15. However, the Austrian product retails at a lower price than the Japanese naked roadster. It’s the third consecutive month when the 125 Duke has outperformed the MT-15 in terms of sales. Check out the sales performance of the two products in the table below:

The KTM 125 Duke packs more premium features such as inverted front forks and LED taillight. The Yamaha MT-15, on the other hand, benefits from the company’s much-praised Deltabox frame, Variable Valve Actuation and LED headlight. Features common between the two motorcycles includes adjustable monoshock at the back, disc brakes on both wheels and a single-channel ABS. The India-made Yamaha MT-15 uses conventional telescopic front forks instead of upside-down units.

The KTM 125 Duke, which was introduced in our market at INR 1,18,163*, received two price hikes – INR 6,835 in April and INR 5,000 in June. The Austrian product retails at INR 1.30 lakh* now, while the Yamaha MT-15 is available at INR 1.36 lakh*. So, despite the two considerable price increases, the KTM offering continues to outrun the Yamaha product.

The KTM 125 Duke uses a 124.71 cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, DOHC, 4-valve engine with fuel injection technology that pumps out 15.2 PS of peak power at 9,250 rpm and 12 Nm of maximum torque at 8,000 rpm. In comparison, the Yamaha MT-15 packs a 155 cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, SOHC, 4-valve with Variable Valve Actuation (VVA) and fuel injection system that churns out 19.3 PS at 10,000 rpm and 14.7 Nm of torque at 8,500 rpm. Both motorcycles employ a six-speed gearbox although the MT-15 benefits from an assists and slipper clutch.
