KTM India to upgrade its dealerships to accommodate new models - Report

KTM India will reportedly upgrade its dealerships across the country to accommodate upcoming models. Autocar India claims that the Indian arm of the Austrian two-wheeler brand has already initiated the upgrade process. The new outlets will be larger and will offer enhanced customer experience.

The updated KTM outlets will showcase and sell the 790 Duke, 390 Adventure and the Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 and Vitpilen 401.

The overhaul will witness changes to the exterior and the interior of the dealerships. The source report adds that the new KTM dealerships would offer the 790 Duke, 390 Adventure, and Husqvarna’s Svartpilen 401 and Vitpilen 401. The Austrian brand will only provide the updated line-up to dealerships with a good amount of floor space. Smaller outlets would have to make their existing showrooms bigger or move to a new location. The showroom upgrade exercise hints that the new products could be launched by early next year. KTM is yet to announce the arrival timeline, though.

To give you a recap, KTM plans to localise several components of the 790 Adventure to introduce it at competitive prices. The upcoming motorcycle will draw power from a 799 cc parallel-twin, liquid-cooled LC8c engine with two counter-balancer shafts and 270-degree firing order. The motor churns out 105 PS at 9,000 rpm and 86 Nm at 8,000 rpm. The comprehensive electronics package on the 790 Duke comprises ride-by-wire throttle, four-riding modes (sport, street, rain and track), switchable ABS (with Supermoto mode), cornering ABS, PASC slip-assist clutch and quickshifter (both up and down), traction control, Motor Slip Regulation (MSR) and wheelie control.

The KTM 390 Adventure and the Husqvarna duo will draw power from the Austrian brand’s existing 373.2 cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, DOHC, 4-Valve engine that currently powers the 390 Duke and the RC390. The performance numbers may vary on the Husqvarna bikes, but the 390 Adventure should deliver the same power and torque output figures as the Duke and the RC variants. The BS-IV compliant mill produces 43.5 hp of maximum power at 9,500 rpm and 35 Nm of peak torque at 7,250 rpm in the existing models. The BS-VI variant should deliver similar performance.

Homologation process has delayed the Indian launch of KTM 790 Duke (pictured).

The 390 Adventure is likely to arrive in India before the 790 Duke and the Husqvarna duo. The 390 Adventure was spotted on various occasions through spy photographs, and we expect to see the production-spec model at the 2019 EICMA motorcycle show that will be held from 5-10 November this year.
