KTM Industries will increase the annual production in India by more than double by 2022. The company plans to manufacture more than 2 lakh motorcycles in the country by then. This would mark an approximately 17.1% compounded annual growth rate between 2017 and 2022.

Ktm Industries Targets Over 200000 Unit Production
The 200,000 units production volume will include both, KTM and Husqvarna products.

Currently, only KTM models are made in India. Beginning in December 2019, Husqvarna models will also be made in the country. The targeted 2 lakh annual production of KTM Industries includes products from both the brands.

KTM Industries has also witnessed a stronger increase in sales volumes in India than expected. The portfolio includes the 125 Duke, 200 Duke, 250 Duke, 390 Duke, 790 Duke, RC125, RC200 and the RC390 from the KTM brand. The company will soon expand its product portfolio with the launch of the 390 Adventure and the 250 Adventure KTM models. The entry-level Adventure bikes will reportedly arrive in December 2019.

Reports say that KTM will launch the 390 Adventure and the 250 Adventure at the 2019 India Bike Week event. KTM has confirmed it will be present here and is offering the entry passes for the event to its customers at a discounted rate (INR 1,600 against the actual rate of INR 2,200). The launch of the Husqvarna 401 duo – the Vitpilen 401 and Svartpilen 401 – will take place in 2020.

The Husqvarna Vitpilen 401 and Svartpilen 401 were previously scheduled to arrive in 2019. Test mules of the motorcycles have been spotted on several occasions in the past. The Husqvarna 401 duo shares the 373.2 cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine and underpinnings with the KTM 390 Duke.

More high-end KTM products will also be launched very soon. These will be the BS-VI compliant 790 Duke and the 790 Adventure. The upcoming KTM 790 Adventure will share its 799 cc parallel twin-cylinder, liquid-cooled, 8-valve LC8c motor with the 790 Duke. The Adventure model, however, packs relatively lower power output than the 790 Duke. The parallel-twin mill, in Euro-IV guise, produces 94 hp of peak power and 88 Nm of max torque.

Rakesh Sharma, Executive Director, Bajaj Auto stated in a recent interview that the company will accelerate launches of new models post the BS-VI upgrade completion and it does not want to place the updated models against its relatively affordable BS-IV rivals.
