The 2017 KTM Duke 250 misses out on LED headlamp and ride by wire.
In an interview with the Indonesian motorcycle blog Iwanbanaran, Mr Gianluca Lozzi, Sales and Director, KTM South East Asia has confirmed that there will be no new twin-cylinder quarter litre motorcycle from the Austrian company.
KTM currently retails single cylinder motorcycles with an engine displacement starting at 125 cc and goes up to 690 cc. Their twin-cylinder range begins with their KTM 1090 Adventure but will soon get the KTM 790 Duke.
The KTM Duke 250 and KTM RC250 are powered by a 248.8 cc mill which traces its lineage to the KTM 390s. Coupled to a 6 speed gearbox, the engine is capable of producing 31 PS of maximum power at 9,000 rpm and 24 Nm of peak torque at 7,250 rpm. The bike gets ABS and slipper clutch as standard.
Twin-cylinder quarter litre (and 290-300 cc plus) motorcycles have been on the rise this decade. Products like the Honda CBR250RR and Yamaha R25 have been registering good volumes. KTM has been known to make powerful single cylinder mills which will help keep the weight of the bike low.

KTM India is expected to launch the 2017 KTM Duke 390 in the country in the next few weeks.
