The Priora AMT retains the gear ratios and basic construction of its existing 5-speed manual gearbox. The AMT kit and software are supplied by transmission specialist ZF. The AMT unit continues to harness power from the 1.6-litre four-cylinder petrol engine which is tuned to deliver 98 bhp.

The option of AMT would help boost the aging sedan's appeal as an easy-to-use city car. Mr. Denis Petrunin, vice president of sales and marketing, AvtoVAZ has revealed that the automated gearbox would be made available in other Ladas in the future, including the upcoming Vesta sedan.
