An Indian Autos Blog reader from Calicut sent us the best ever spyshots of the upcoming Mahindra 110 cc scooter (codenamed Mahindra G101). The older test mules were clothed with thick black camou to hide their design features, but the latest mule just dons a classic black & white camouflage, also signalling that the launch is not far away.
The upcoming scooter is Mahindra 2 Wheeler's first attempt to crack the fast growing 110 cc automatic scooter segment. The new model will head straight for the Honda Activa which had become the second best selling two wheeler in the country in FY2014.
The 110 cc air cooled engine is expected to be borrowed from the Mahindra Centuro which is doing pretty well in the commuter motorcycle segment, having sold over one lakh units since the launch. The motor which produces 8.5 PS and 8.5 Nm of torque would be mated to a CVT in the scooter.
The new Mahindra scooter has been testing for a while now suggesting that the market launch is just a few months away. Expect Mahindra to maintain its custom of significantly undercutting rivals with the introductory prices. Apart from the mighty Activa, the scooter will have to fight it out with the likes of the Yamaha Ray, Alpha, Suzuki Let's, TVS Wego and Jupiter.
In addition to the scooter, Mahindra 2 Wheelers are also in the verge of launching the Mahindra Mojo.
