AutosArena reports that the Mahindra Gusto 125 is scheduled to be launched on January 12. It will compete with the Honda Activa 125 and the Suzuki Access.
The Gusto 125 is based on Mahindra Two Wheelers' first self-developed scooter, the Mahindra Gusto, which was launched in September, 2014. Aside from the platform, the powertrain is also based on the existing Gusto's which was also developed from the scratch by MTWL.
The engine on the Gusto 125 is a larger-displacement version of the 109.6 cc M-TEC engine on the Gusto 110. The latter is a single-cylinder air-cooled unit that produces 8 PS at 7,500 rpm and 9 Nm at 5,500 rpm. The new Gusto 125 is expected to have an output of around 10 PS and 10 Nm.
Despite being based on the same platform as the Gusto 110, the 125 cc version is expected to have a contrasting styling. The features however would be shared from the existing model, which include telescopic fork, 12-inch wheels, seat height adjustment facility, the flip-open key with controls on the fob for find me and follow me home lamps and plenty of storage solutions.
