The Mahindra Gusto has been launched to take advantage of the lucrative 110 cc automatic scooter segment. Here is a tech spec comparo of the new kid on the block against its rivals Honda Activa, TVS Jupiter, Yamaha Ray, Suzuki Let's and Hero Maestro.

In terms of engine specification, the difference in the stats are marginal. At 113 cc, the Ray has the maximum displacement and at 109 cc, the Maestro has least displacement. The continuously variable transmission (CVT) is standard across the models.

When it comes to power output, the Suzuki Let's tops the chart at 8.7 bhp while the Ray finds itself at the bottom with 7 bhp on offer. The remaining scooters generate 8 bhp.

The Maestro delivers the highest torque of 9.1 Nm while the Let's and Gusto offer 9 Nm. The Jupiter develops the lowest torque of 8 Nm. The Gusto is heavier than the competition by far at 120 kg and hence has the least power-to-weight ratio of 66.66 bhp/tonne while the lightweight Let's boasts of highest power-to-weight among the competition at 88.77 bhp/tonne.

The Gusto and Jupiter have the longest wheelbase at 1,275 mm while the segment leader Activa 110 has the shortest wheelbase at 1,238 mm.

Coming to fuel economy, the Gusto and Let's are the most frugal of the lot at 63 km/l. Despite having the lowest power output, the Yamaha Ray delivers the least fuel economy of 53 km/l.

The two variants of the Mahindra Gusto have been positioned in such a way to cover the entire 110 cc scooter segment. The base Gusto Dx variant is the cheapest in the comparo at INR 43,000 while the feature-packed Gusto Vx is the most expensive model at INR 47,000 (prices are ex-showroom Delhi).
