Gets the Quanto's 100 PS diesel engine.
The Mahindra NuvoSport will have its market launch today in Mumbai, thus replacing the slow-selling Mahindra Quanto. Essentially a facelift for the Quanto, Mahindra's marketing team has given the compact SUV a new brand name thus cutting all ties with the 'Quanto' nameplate.
According to Mahindra though, the NuvoSport is based on the hydroformed ladder-frame chassis of the Mahindra Scorpio (the Quanto was based on the Mahindra Xylo's platform). A leaked specification sheet reveals that the NuvoSport will be powered by the Quanto's 1.5-liter three-cylinder diesel engine which develops 100 PS and 240 Nm of torque (72 PS and 180 Nm when used in Eco mode). Where the Quanto was solely available with a 5-speed manual transmission, the Mahindra NuvoSport will come in manual and automated manual guises.
The Mahindra NuvoSport will come in six variants - N4, N4+, N6, N6 AMT, N8 and N8 AMT. All variants are expected with ABS as standard, whereas dual front airbags will be an option on the base grades, and standard on the top-end trims.
