Replaces the Mahindra Quanto.

Mahindra has unveiled the replacement for the Mahindra Quanto, which features a thoroughly revised exterior, Scorpio-based platform, a new engine likely to be sourced from the TUV300 and a new name. Here's what we know about the Mahindra NuvoSport.

Exterior:

Mahindra NuvoSport front quarter

Compared to the Quanto, the Mahindra Nuvosport features an all new design that looks more aggressive and closer to an SUV than its MPV-esque predecessor. To further distance itself from the Quanto, Mahindra also gave it a new name.

It gets an upright front-end with a new grille flanked by headlamps, separate LED DRLs, contoured hood with an intake, stylized front bumper with round foglamps, and a silver skid plate.

Mahindra NuvoSport rear quarter

The Nuvosport comes with extra black plastic body cladding on the side and rear ends for a rugged look. Speaking of the rear-end, it looks largely identical to the outgoing Quanto, save for the clear lens taillamps, roof spoiler and new spare wheel cover.

Mahindra hasn't officially revealed the interior of the Mahindra NuvoSport, although older spyshots have uncovered a design that looks similar to the existing Mahindra Quanto. It retains the 5+2 seating arrangement, with two small jump seats located at the rear.

New additions t0 the NuvoSport include an updated steering wheel, instrument dials, 2-DIN music system with a touchscreen display for top-end grades, cruise control, eight-way adjustable seats with lumbar support which are first in its segment.

Safety Features:

The Nuvosport will be based on the hydroformed ladder-frame platform of the Scorpio, rather than the Xylo's platform. Compared to the Quanto, the Nuvosport's platform is likely to be more rigid and stronger to withstand front and side impact collisions.

Other than that, it's likely to feature ABS+EBD as standard, while dual airbags will be optional right from base grades.

Powertrain:

Spyshots have confirmed that the NuvoSport will feature an automated manual transmission, which is likely to be the 5-speed unit borrowed from the TUV300. In addition to the AMT, the Mahindra NuvoSport will also offer a 5-speed manual gearbox.

Prices:

The Mahindra NuvoSport is rumored to be positioned between the Mahindra TUV300 and Mahindra KUV100, which could suggest that its pricing will be slightly lower than its boxy sibling. Expect the pricing to hover between INR 6.5-8.5 lakhs (ex-showroom).
