To be launched this FY.
The side profile of the Mahindra S101 (codename) has been snapped again. The prototype, of what could be named the Mahindra XUV100, continues testing with heavy camouflage, but the seemingly production-spec head- and taillamps are not covered.
The XUV100 will be the second monocoque-based and Front Wheel Drive car in the company's passenger car portfolio after the Mahindra XUV500 (the Verito/Logan is borrowed from Dacia). The platform is newly developed for the S101, which is expected to spawn more cars in the future.
Reported to be targeting the Maruti Wagon R, the Mahindra S101 will feature two engine options, both of which are expected to be three cylinder engines. The petrol version would be powered by an all-new 1.2-litre engine that will be introduced on the S101. This motor is believed to be co-developed by Mahindra and SsangYong.

The diesel S101 is expected to be powered by the new mHawk 80 diesel engine that was introduced on the Mahindra TUV300. It produces 84 bhp at 3,750 rpm and 230 Nm between 1,500-2,250 rpm on the latter. The transmission options would include 5-speed manual and AMT units.
