The Mahindra U321 MPV will be the first of multiple new products the company intends to launch in India this fiscal. As per a tweet from Editor, The Auto Show, BTVI, Swati Khandelwal, the Toyota Innova rival will be unveiled on April 18, 2018.
While Mahindra has scheduled a press conference for 18 April, it has not specified the agenda. According to a report from Autocar India, the launch of the 2018 Mahindra XUV500 facelift is set to take place that day.
The U321 will be Mahindra’s third product based on a monocoque chassis after the XUV500 and KUV100. Spy shots published so far have revealed exterior details like 6-split spoke two-tone alloy wheels, black headlamp bezels, and Mahindra’s signature ‘toothed’ grille. A spy video of the Mahindra U321 revealed a dual-tone dashboard, chrome trim for the air vents, AC controls and gearshift lever, large touchscreen infotainment system, chrome door handles, front centre armrest, fabric upholstery and automatic climate control.
The Mahindra U321, reportedly, will debut a new 1.6-litre diesel engine that develops 125 hp and 305 Nm. There will be a petrol engine on offer displacing either 1.5 L or 2.0 L. A 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox could be on the cards.
