The diesel variant would deliver 26.4 km/l.
The Mazda2-based sedan is reported to have its world premiere at the Thailand International Motor Expo which starts on November 28. Prototypes of the 2 Sedan have been snapped testing in Thailand this year, providing visual clues to the design of the car.
Like the 2015 2 hatchback, the sedan will get the new KODO design language, and based on spyshots, its likely to borrow its front fascia from the hatchback (similar to the case of the Honda Brio and Amaze). However, the 2 sedan will be positioned as a rival to the new Honda City and Toyota Vios.
The BangkokPost reports that Mazda will position the 2 sedan as an 'Eco Car' by giving it a fuel efficient diesel engine. The 1.5-liter SKYACTIV-D motor will make about 105 bhp and deliver 26.4 km/l when equipped with a 6-speed automatic transmission and a Start-Stop system.

To balance the economies of scale (Thailand is largely a petrol driven market), the publication reports that Mazda will export the car to markets like Australia and Europe, though a timeframe was not made available. However, the car will not be India bound as Mazda have no plans of entering the passenger vehicles segment in our country.
