Base variant of the E Class in China.
Mercedes-Benz have introduced the E Class E180 long wheelbase at the 2014 Guangzhou Auto Show. The E180L is the base variant of the E Class lineup in China, slotting below the E200L.
Like the E200L, the E180L is powered by the same 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine which produces 170 hp and 280 Nm of torque (the E200L makes 184 hp and 300 Nm), and is paired to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission driving the rear wheels.
0-100 km/h takes 9.6 seconds, and Mercedes claims a top-speed of 225 km/h and a fuel efficiency of 14.92 km/l.
Being the most affordable E Class model, the E180L does without several features. The headlights for example are normal halogen units, and even LED daytime running lights aren't offered. Inside, the car gets automatic climate control and a music system with the basic version of Mercedes's COMAND infotainment system.
The E Class L in China has its length extended by 140 mm, all of which has been used to improve the rear seat comfort. China is the only market to get the long wheelbase E Class.
