Early last month, we reported that Mercedes-Benz was considering axing the Mercedes SLS AMG next year. Production of the two-door flagship supercar commenced in 2010 in Sindelfingen, Germany, after its world premiere at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show.

The Mercedes SLS AMG Final Edition would be introduced at the 2013 LA Auto Show next week.

German car magazine, Auto Motor Und Sport, reports that Mercedes will launch a Final Edition SLS AMG at the 2013 LA Auto Show on November 20th. Production of the regular SLS and the Final Edition will continue until the middle of 2014, after which the supercar will permanently go into the pages of history.

Visually, the Mercedes SLS AMG Final Edition will differ slightly from the regular model. Spyshots from Germany indicate that a mildly different front bumper with new air vents, a reskinned hood and new exhaust pipes would feature.

Mercedes themselves released this image of the SLC AMG: A small two-door sportster that would rival the F-Type, and replace the SLS.

While the SLS AMG Final Edition will retain the 6.2-liter V8 engine along with the 7-speed AMG dual-clutch gearbox, the power and torque outputs will be marginally higher than the regular version. Currently this engine produces 571 PS and 650 Nm in the standard SLS, 591 PS in the SLS GT and 631 PS in the SLS Black.

The SLS AMG will not be succeeded by a next generation model. Instead, Mercedes will introduce a smaller two-door sportscar (a Jaguar F-Type challenger) in 2015. Mercedes themselves released images of a camouflaged prototype, and the car could be called the SLC.
