The 2017 MG 6 draws design inspiration from the MG E-Motion Concept. It features a sloping coupe-like roofline accompanied by a stubby boot. MG's shield grille dominates the front end of the 6. It gets dynamic turn indicators up front placed in the bumper and 'Ambilight' LED tail lights. The sedan measure 4,695 mm long, 1,848 mm wide, and 1,462 mm tall. Underpinning the MG 6 is a 2,715 mm wheelbase.

The interior revealed in official images shows a black and red colour theme. The cabin is equipped with the Zebra Zhixing 2.0 Internet system jointly developed by SAIC and Alibaba. It is already present in products like the Roewe RX5 and the MG ZS. The centre console bears a strong resemblance to the previous generation Audi A4's setup while the central aircon vents resemble those of the current generation A4.

Under the hood, the MG 6 gets a SGE 20T 1.5 T turbocharged engine. It has a maximum power of 169 PS and a peak torque of 250Nm. The engine is mated to a 7-speed dual clutch automatic transmission.
