Ford India has officially confirmed a mid-August launch for the Ford Figo Aspire sedan. Bookings for the compact sedan began just last week at INR 30,000.
The Figo Aspire is Ford India's bet for the highly competitive compact sedan segment. With two petrol and one diesel model, Ford is making an attempt to take on the Maruti Dzire, Hyundai Xcent and the Tata Zest, head on. The Figo Aspire sedan will be the first product to be manufactured at the company's new manufacturing facility in Sanand, Gujarat

A new 1.2-liter and 1.5-liter Ti-VCT petrol engine and the existing 1.5-liter Duratorq diesel engine will act as powerplants for the compact sedan. While the petrol engines are mated to either a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed Powershift dual clutch gearbox, the diesel variant will come with only a 5-speed manual gearbox. The 6-speed box is available only on the more powerful 1.5-liter petrol engine.
The ARAI-rated mileage for these engines stand at 18.16 km/l for the 1.2L, 17 km/l for the 1.5L AT and 25.83 km/l for the 1.5L diesel. The Figo Aspire will come in Ambiente, Trend, Titanium and Titanium+ variants.
