In a couple of weeks after its public debut at the GIIAS 2017, the Mitsubishi Xpander has bagged close to 7,500 bookings reports dapurpacu. From 6,000 as of August 18, the number has gone up to 7,489 in less than a week.
MMKSI managed to register 5,281 bookings at the 11-day event. The promotions will continue across Indonesia in the coming days with over 70 customer-centric events planned, according to the report.
While initially the production was slated to commence in October, the company has decided to start manufacturing in September, a decision possibly driven by the strong demand. For now, the Xpander will be sold in Indonesia, followed by its launch in Philippines, Thailand, and Malaysia next year. Exports will expand to the Middle East and a launch in European markets is on the cards as well.
The price of the Mitsubishi Xpander in Indonesia starts at Rp 189,050,000 (INR 907,541) for the entry level grade. The top-spec fully loaded Ultimate trim retails for Rp 245,350,000 (INR 1,177,811). There are a total of five trims on offer. Its rivals include the Honda Mobilio, Suzuki Ertiga and the Toyota Avanza.
A 1.5 L MIVEC petrol engine powers the Mitsubishi Xpander with 104 PS and 141 Nm on tap. Transmission choices include a 4-speed automatic and a 5-speed manual. Customers can choose from five colour choices - Diamond Black Mica, Quartz White Pearl, Sterling Silver Metallic, Titanium Grey Metallic and Red Metallic.
