IAB Report - INR 5.85 lakh Mobius II SUV to launch in Africa soon

Mobius Motors, an African low cost 'car' maker, is ready to launch its Mobius II SUV. The Mobius is a low cost vehicle which features just the bare essentials and is aimed at providing affordable transportation in Africa.

Mobius do not have a platform as such for making vehicles, and reports on the internet point out that the SUV is built by integrating off-the-shelf parts in a tubular steel frame.

The Mobius II measures 3,883 mm in length, 1,805 mm in width, 1,874 mm in height, 2,300 mm in wheelbase and weighs 1,275 kg. Power comes from an inline four-cylinder petrol engine displacing 1,598 cc and producing 86 hp at 5,500 rpm and 128 Nm of torque at 3,000 rpm. The company claims a top-speed of 120 km/h. A 5-speed manual gearbox comes standard.

The Mobius II seats six passengers including the driver. While the driver and front passenger get 3-point seatbelts, rear passengers get 2-point seatbelts. Other features include front disc brakes, rear drum brakes, a coil sprung front suspension, solid axle leaf sprung rear suspension, 260 mm ground clearance and 195/15 tubeless radial tires on 15-inch rims. The steering is a manual rack and pinion unit.

The Mobius II is priced at USD 10,000 (INR 5.85 lakhs).
