While you people were sipping coffee and watching the morning news, IAB was wide awake at 7:00 am this Sunday morning. The occasion: the Annual Parx Supercar Parade – the event where exotics roar on the city streets Mumbai in their full glory.
Arranged by a collaboration of the Supercar Club of India (SSC) and Autocar India magazine, this is the 3rd year of this parade and boy has it got some cult fan following!
So what if the event started at early Sunday morning at 8:00 am? The entire arena was jam-packed with petrolheads (and their cameras) trying to get the best shot of their dream rides. And because it is a parade and not an auto show, you not only get to see these cars but get to see what these cars are capable of on the streets.
The arena was filled with over 60 cars from different brands. Some familiar to the public psyche such as Lamborghini, Ferrari, Rolls Royce, Bentley, BMW, Mercedes; Others not so familiar like Ariel and Tramontana.
Not a car maniac but a passionate biker? Harley-Davidson made sure that you also had something to talk about on your way home.
The event flagged off with the bikes and cars taking different route as bikes are not allowed on the Bandra-Worli Sealink. But before the flag off there were some hot burnouts from the hogs
And then led by Gautam Singhania’s magnificent Ferrari 458 Italia, the convoy of 40+ Supercars did what they do best – Put up a Fantastic Show!
The city streets of Mumbai came alive the roar of engines and screeches of rubber. People on the streets, from their cars, in their balconies, on the flyovers were vying for a glimpse of this mad, horsepower-filled spectacle!
The convoy paraded the arterial streets on Mumbai covering the Marine Drive, the Bandra-Worli Sea link, Western Express Highway, Peddar road before returning to the venue. And everywhere they went they were greeted with loud applauses and flashing cameras.
Overall, the event was a grand success and for me personally it was an awesome, fun-filled Sunday morning. I shall wait with bated breath for the next year :)
