New generation model could debut in early 2017.
The fourth-gen North American spec Honda Odyssey has been serving since 2010 and was to be replaced by an all-new model this year. At the 2017 Honda CR-V's world debut in Detroit yesterday, John Mendel, Executive Vice President, American Honda Motor Company, announced that the next-gen Honda Odyssey will go on sale in Spring 2017 (March-June 2017), in the USA.
For the past year, American Honda has been testing the 2017 Honda Odyssey with heavy camouflage to hide the design almost entirely. However, purported leaked patent images which surfaced in December last year has revealed it all.
The next-gen Honda Odyssey will be based on the Global Light Truck platform that currently underpins the Honda Pilot and Honda Ridgeline. It is said to be coming with the 3.5-liter i-VTEC naturally aspirated V6 gasoline engine that develops 280 hp and 262 lb.-ft. (355.22 Nm) of torque in the 2016 Honda Pilot. Transmission choices may include 6-speed automatic and 9-speed automatic. An all-wheel drive system and P-AWS (four-wheel steering) could be available on select variants.

The Toyota Sienna's arch rival was reported to debut at the 2016 LA Auto Show next month, but with the Spring 2017 market launch timeline now confirmed, the unveiling may happen early next year.
