Likely to be the first export market for the new gen SUV.
The New Mahindra Scorpio which missed attending the 2014 Colombo Motor Show due to logistical bottlenecks is all set to be launched in Sri Lanka shortly, possibly before the end of this year.
The third gen Scoprio would attempt to crack the Sri Lankan SUV market, a feat which proved difficult for its predecessor. The new car is underpinned by a new hydroformed ladder frame chassis which is claimed to be stiffer than that of the outgoing model.
Visual changes come in the form of comprehensively revised front and rear fascias with LED daytime running lights, larger headlamps, a new grille and bumper, a redesigned tailgate and LED taillights. The interior has nothing in common with its predecessor, featuring a new dashboard design and a steering wheel that is borrowed from the costlier XUV500.
The engine lineup has been retained with the base variant propelled by a 2.5-litre four-cylinder diesel engine producing 75 bhp at 3,200 rpm and 200 Nm of torque between 1,400 - 2,200 rpm. The higher variants get the 2.2-litre four-cylinder dishing out 120 bhp at 4,000 rpm and 280 Nm of torque at 1,800 to 2,800 rpm.

An updated 5-speed manual transmission sends power to the rear wheels. The Scorpio is also available with a 4x4 system though.
