Development time took 33 months.
Maruti-Suzuki launched the new Alto K10 on November 3, with prices ranging from INR 3.06 lakhs to INR 3.81 lakhs, ex-Showroom, New Delhi.
The second generation K10, which is based on the Alto 800's body, will be exported to markets in Latin America, Africa and Middle East, according to the company's executive director for engineering, C V Raman. The exports are expected to start in a couple of months.
The new Alto K10 is powered by a 1.0-liter three-cylinder K-Series engine which produces 68 PS (67.04 bhp) and 90 Nm of torque, and accelerates from 0-60 km/h in 5.3 seconds. A 5-speed manual and automated manual transmission are offered, and the latter is expected by the company to account for 20 percent of sales.
It took the company 33 months to develop the K10 with assistance from Suzuki engineers in Japan, and at a total cost of INR 200 crores. Compared to the older K10, the new model is 15 mm taller at 1,475 mm and 15 mm wider at 1,490 mm. It measures 3,545 mm in length and 2,360 mm in wheelbase.

The AMT system is offered on VXi trim, while the top-end VXi (O) trim comes with a manual gearbox and gets a driver airbag, along with foglights.
