Guangzhou Live - New Toyota Crown

Toyota's flagship sedan gets a cosmetic change.

The FAW-Toyota joint venture has world premiered the facelift of the Toyota Crown at the 2014 Guangzhou Auto Show. The car, sold chiefly in China and Japan, will be launched on the Chinese market next year.

Penned by a team of designers who have specialized in jewelry, space and architecture, the facelift of the 15th generation Crown comes 59 years after the nameplate, which today is the brand's flagship sedan, was first launched.

The 2015 Toyota Crown features a larger grille, LED headlamps, LED taillights, 13-inch TFT multimedia touchscreen, full-leather interior, and carries minor changes to the instrument binnacle and air-conditioning controls area. Toyota says the redesigned car uses a "blend of tradition and innovation".

The new Crown is powered by a 2.5L naturally aspirated and a 2.0-liter turbocharged direct injection engine, whose outputs are undisclosed. Toyota has however listed out a series of safety features on the car such as Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management system (VDIM), pre-crash safety system (PCS), blind spot monitoring system (BSM) among many more.
