Toyota Crown - Motorshow Focus

The Crown is the longest running passenger-car nameplate in Toyota's history.

The new Toyota Crown was showcased at the 2015 Shanghai Auto Show. The car has completed 60 years and is the longest running passenger-car nameplate in Toyota's history. It is made in China by the FAW-Toyota joint venture.

The designers have penned the body by mixing tradition and innovation.

The facelift of the sedan was unveiled at the 2014 Guangzhou Auto Show. On the outside, it has received changes in the form of a larger grille, new LED headlamps and LED tail lights. The design team behind the facelift consist of members who are from backgrounds such as jewelry and architecture. The team has redesigned the sedan by mixing tradition with innovation.

The car sports an all-black full-leather interior that is embellished with chrome detailing seen on the four-spoke steering wheel, gear lever surrounds and dashboard which is dominated by the huge 13-inch multimedia touchscreen. A touch of class is added to the cabin by the wooden trim that is present on the dashboard and center console.

The Crown made its debut 60 years ago and is still going strong in Japan and China.

A choice of two engines will be available for the new Crown, these are a 2.5-liter naturally-aspirated V6 engine producing 193 hp and 236 Nm, and a new 2.0-liter turbocharged four cylinder unit.
