To launch on December 19.
An IAB reader has snapped the new VW Beetle at a dealership stock yard, wrapped in pre-delivery protective covers. It is confirmed to launch in India on December 19, and bookings are already open for a minimum deposit of INR 1 Lakh.
The spyshots also give a closer look at the trim and features equipped in the India-spec model. The exterior has the iconic Beetle styling, but is made angular and masculine than the previous model. It will ride on smaller rims for better ride quality, and gets bi-xenon headlamps, power retractable ORVMs with optional chrome covers, rear spoiler, and foglamps.
Inside, the Beetle will be generously equipped with features like automatic climate control, touchscreen display with navigation, auto dimming rear view mirror, leather upholstery, and heated front seats. Also, the interior trim around the steering wheel, dashboard and door panels match the exterior color.
The only engine option available to Indian customers is a 1.4-liter TSI four cylinder petrol engine producing 147 hp. It is paired to a 7-speed DSG gearbox with paddles on the steering wheel.

The new Beetle is expected to be priced between INR 30-35 Lakhs (Ex showroom, Delhi), and rival the Mini Cooper in the niche hatchback segment.
