Rumoured to launch in Q2 2017.
The new VW Passat has been spied testing in Pune by Thrustzone, featuring no camouflage wrap whatsoever.
So far, the regular 2.0 TDI variant has only been spotted testing on Indian roads, while the Passat GTE hybrid variant (also in the offing) was last seen at the Auto Expo 2016. The former will pack the familiar 2.0L TDI turbo diesel 4-cyl engine paired with a 7-speed DSG, which produces 190 PS. The Passat GTE combines a 154 bhp 1.4-liter TSI petrol engine with a 115 bhp electric motor. The combined output of 218 bhp is transferred through a six-speed DSG.
The new Passat measures 4,767 mm long, 1,832 mm wide and 1,456 mm in high. Compared to the model last sold in India, the new Passat is 2 mm shorter, 12 mm wider and 6 mm lower, and the wheelbase is stretched by 79 mm to 2,791 mm. Also, the weight of the premium saloon was reduced by 85 kg, thanks to the new MQB platform.
